Obituary for Toby Joan Toman

Toby Joan Toman-Chaxalyia-t

It is with great sadness that we share of the passing of our dear relative Toby Joan Toman. Toby was born February 27, 1965 to her parents Toby Thomas Toman and Loretta Shirley (nee Moody) and passed away peacefully on July 6, 2020 in Squamish, B.C.

She was raised in Kwatain/Kewtin Indian Reserve No. 17 and attended Mamquam Elementary School, Howe Sound secondary, Carson Graham Secondary School and Vancouver Learning Centre where she proudly achieved her grade 12.

Toby was a dispatcher for Squamish Nation peacekeeprs and worked for many years a Totem Hall's receptionist. She was gentle,kind and attentive to nation members and staff and was truly loved by all. Toby enjoyed to weave & crochet,was an avid reader and writer and was working towards completing her first book. Toby's world was her family and she was especially dedicated to her daughter who was her world.

Toby is survived by and will be dearly missed by her loving parents Chief Toby Thomas Toman-Kwi-ye-mtn and Loretta Shirley (nee Moody) Toman-Hum-te-ya,daughter Sarah Dawn Toman-Hum-te-ya (Brian Mann), grandaughter Eve Joan Toman Mann, brother "Joey" Thomas Toma-Nak'awemot, John Edward Toman-Taw-amut, sister Anita Madeline Toman-Qua-xalyia,nephews & nieces Tina Marie Toman, Holly Spring Toman, Jeffrey Joseph Toman, Hanna A Toman, Joseph George Thomas Baker (Nicole),grandnieces Ayla Baker,Emmalynn Baker.

WE UNDERSTAND THIS IS A DIFFICULT TIME FOR FAMILIES AND RELATIVES AND THAT MANY PEOPLE WOULD HAVE LIKED TO ATTEND BUT AT THIS TIME IT IS IMPOSSIBLE DUE TO COVID-19 .
