Obituary for Stephen Andrew MacKinnon

With heavy hearts, the family of Stephen Andrew MacKinnon announces his passing on
November 11, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. Born November 7th 1969,
Stephen was the oldest of five children of Ronald and Ruth MacKinnon and grew up in
Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Stephen moved to British Columbia in 1989 where he built a
life and family of his own, while still maintaining strong connections to his east coast
family, friends, and Scottish roots.

Stephen had a HUGE personality and never failed to make a lasting impression on everyone he met. He
was a determined, head-strong and passionate man, a loyal friend, and a devoted hands-on father and
husband. He loved being a father and his five children were his greatest pride and a profound source of
joy in his life. Stephen was blessed to have had the unwavering support of his wife Danna whom he
often referred to as his angel.
Stephen was predeceased by his grandparents Stephen and Eunice MacKinnon and Hilda and Andrew
Szlavik. He is deeply missed by his loving wife Danna as well as five beautiful children Cameron, Shaelyn,
Taylor, Mallory and Ries. He is further survived by his parents Ron and Ruth MacKinnon, siblings
Michelle, Allison, Allan, Sarah and their spouses, aunt Dorothea (Glen) Housworth and uncles John
Szlavik and Dan Montague, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Stephen will be laid to rest in Mount Currie cemetery and an additional memorial service will be held at
a later date in Ottawa, Ontario.
