Obituary for Stephen George Cassell

With great sadness we announce the passing of Stephen Cassell on May 29, 2021 at Lions Gate Hospital. He is now casting his rod in the skies. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Marylynn, his children, Andrew (Tristiana), Tracey (Adam), grand children, Mason and Hailey, his siblings Roger (Pam), Jimmy (Seena), Heather (Rick), Dan (June), Kim (Judy), Joni and all of his loving nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Joan Cassell. Steve was born in Smith Falls, Ontario on August 17, 1961. In 1969 his parents moved all 7 children to Squamish where at 17 years old he met the love of his life and shortly after they married. Through his childhood he made many lifelong friends, most of whom formed the fishing club Fishin’ Out West. He had many jobs through his years but he really enjoyed driving the shuttle bus and running fishing tours. In case you didn't know, Steve enjoyed arm wrestling....and fishing. He had a love for old blockbuster movies and was so looking forward to sharing them with his grandkids when they were old enough. Steve’s greatest past time was sitting outside by the fire telling stories and making everyone laugh. Even though Steve is no longer with us physically, if you ever need him, just yell "Meep!!!"

Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jamieson and the ICU nurses and doctors at Lions Gate Hospital.

Due to covid restrictions we will be holding a celebration of life in the near future as well as a special ceremony at the river with his "Fishin Out West " members.
