Obituary for Ronald Peter McCormack

McCormack, Ronald Peter, passed away at home on Sunday July 18, 2021 at the age of 91. Ron was predeceased by his daughter Liz, his brother Bob and his sister Mary Pietrzyk. Survived by his longtime partner Carmen Petersen, sons John, and Ronald (Carrie), Carmen’s son Michael (Moraine) Petersen, grandsons Ryan, R.J., Nicholas and Daniel, granddaughters Terese and Alexandra, and great granddaughter Olivia. Also by his sister Patricia Rebagliati, sister in law Maureen McCormack, nieces Jane (Bob) Kolmatycki and Tana Rebagliati, nephew Bobby McCormack and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A lifelong resident of Squamish Ron spent his early days in the Pacific Coast Militia Rangers before working on the railroad, then spent a three year stint in the Air Force. His career shifted to the logging industry and he founded Ron McCormack Log Hauling. Ron’s passion for logging continued until his final days, when at the age of 91 he was still removing stumps and riding his tractor mower around the yard. In retirement Ron could be found walking the dyke with his other passion, his dogs. He also spent his time travelling with Carmen to their favourite hotspots and when at home he could be found collecting and sorting cans for donation. Ron greatly thanks those who participated in helping him donate in excess of $30,000 to BC Children’s Hospital and Canuck Place.

Ron’s family would like to thank the staff at Squamish Hospital for their care and attention.

No service by request. Donations in Ron’s name to the Squamish General Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
