Obituary for Robin Crumley

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Robert Walker Crumley (Robin), passed away peacefully on June 29th at the Sea to Sky Community Hospice in Squamish B.C, after a long battle with health complications. He was 79.

Robin was born in 1941 in Scotland. At the age of 21 he left Scotland to travel the world. His early work life and travels included New Zealand, Australia, S. Africa, Zambia, and Rhodesia, before he discovered Whistler in 1968. Almost immediately he made Whistler his permanent home for the rest of his life, firmly believing in its potential and recognising that it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Robin was a kind, thoughtful, and supportive man with a passion for life and for the community of Whistler. He was known for his great sense of humour, his wisdom and his truly accepting nature. He was a man who lived life on his own terms, but always cared about the people that were around him. His other great passion was golf. He played at many courses around the world, but among his favorite moments in life was playing a round at Big Sky with his closest friends.

Robin is survived by his immediate family, his wife Janet, his son “little” Robin, his granddaughters Kaya and Sage and his brother William.

Robin will be cremated on July 03 in a private ceremony. A memorial will take place at his home on a future date when his friends and family can assemble to tell their favorite stories and toast him with his favorite Scotch and Martinis. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Sea to Sky Hospice or Whistler HealthCare Foundation whose kindness and care were very instrumental in Robins life.
