Obituary for Randy Walter

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Randolph Ernest Walter on the 4th of October, 2019 in Squamish, B.C.

Randy, son of Armin (d) and Evelina Walter, was born in Ocean Falls, B.C. on August 30, 1946. He moved with his family to Beaver Cove and then Vancouver until his marriage to Evelyn Van Nes in 1969. Squamish became their home where their son Rob was born and raised. Randy worked as a scaler and a faller in the woods until he was diagnosed with MS. He then worked as a Conservation Officer in Squamish and finally as a Park Ranger at Alice Lake Provincial Park until 1979.

Randy always kept a positive attitude despite his disability. His kind and generous heart was the reason he had so many loyal friends. He spent the last 16 years of his life at the Hilltop House in Squamish where he touched the lives of many. The family cannot thank the staff, volunteers and friends at Hilltop enough for their loving care. He loved you all and you enriched his life immensely. Special thanks to Dr. Cudmore who went above and beyond many times to ensure Randy had the care he deserved.

Randy is survived by his Mother, Evelina Walter (98), his sister Cathy (Janice), his son, Rob (Kirsten) and his two granddaughters, Calla and Abby.

A memorial will be held in the Squamish Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 16th at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the M.S. Society.
