Patricia Lynn Walker passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on January 15th 2021, in the mountains of Birken, BC.
Born to Rebecca and Orval (Pete) Hay, in Barrie Ontario; Patty spent her youth figure skating, travelling with her school band, playing tennis and swimming with her friend Ann, her sister Linda and brother Bill. High School graduation found her pursuing a nursing degree, which led to her early nursing work in Banff, and at Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital. During her time working as a nurse in Ontario, Pat married David Walker. They had 4 children
together before moving west to Vancouver, and settling in the snow capped mountains of Whistler, BC. As a single mother, after the death of her husband, Pat worked hard to keep her children in their beloved Whistler, always displaying her characteristic strength, vibrant positivity and consummate passion for the togetherness of family.
A quintessential caregiver, Trish worked for most of her life as a nurse. She spent much of her later career in the fast paced environment of Vancouver General’s Vascular & Acute Surgery wing of T8, where she formed many close working friendships with her colleagues, retiring in May of 2020.
With a vital and true love of life, Pat gave her all in everything she did. Whether celebrating her children’s accomplishments and playing with her grandchildren; skiing in Whistler; swimming in the wind swept waves of Nicaragua; travelling through North America, Europe, and Bali; enjoying a luncheon with friends on The North Shore; camping on the Northwest Coast of Vancouver Island; or just floating with a cold beer in a Sea to Sky lake, Pat’s infectious smile and enjoyment of each day was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Pat is survived by her beloved family, including sister Linda; children Rebekka, David, Sarah & Rachel; daughter and sons in-law: Robyne, Scott and Zack; and her 3 (almost 4) grandchildren Arlo, Everly and Maya, with baby de Jong soon to arrive.
A selfless, caring soul who will be missed dearly; she walked through life with grace and grit,
always knowing its beauty.
In gratitude for their support, compassion and care during her battle with cancer, donations may be made to The Sea to Sky Hospice Society or BC Cancer Foundation in honor of Pat.
