Obituary for Norm Verner

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Norm who passed away May 1st after a brief battle with cancer. Norm was predeceased by his grandson Cole and is survived by his loving wife Jean, son Keri (Shawna) daughters Tracy and 5 grandchildren Ryan,(Kim) Kari-Ellen, Rhys, Hunter and Jhett, 2 brothers Bill and Bob (Laurie) and many nieces and nephews and many dear friends and of course by his pet pooch Chico.
Norm started his longshoreman career in 1966 in Vancouver and began working in Squamish a frew years later when the Squamish Terminals opened, moving his family to Squamish in 1974. Norm soon became involved in the
local baseball scene and coached men's, boys and women's teams. Over the years he was President of Babe Ruth and President of the girls softball as well as coordinator for the area. Norm was involved with the local Kinsmen club and served as president for two years. He was also a proud member of the Legion.
He was an alderman with the District of Squamish for two terms. In later years Norm loved organizing and planning trips with friends and family to Mexico ,Hawaii ,Cuba, Europe and many other parts of the world. He also loved spending time with family and friends at his cabin in Gun Lake.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Squamish Hospice would be appreciated. Due to covid there will be no service at this time.
