Obituary for Moneta Lena Neighbor (Essex)

Born in Edmonton on Dec. 10, 1926, Moneta passed away peacefully in Squamish Hospital on May 13, 2019. Moneta married Marvin (Tag) Neighbor in Jasper in 1946 and throughout his employment with the Forest Service they lived in many places in BC. They settled in Squamish in 1966. Moneta worked at the old Squamish Hospital as a receptionist in the office. She is predeceased by her husband, Tag, two brothers, George and Evan and her sister, Leah. She is survived by her sons Ted (Carolyn) and Bruce (Lois), her grandchildren Scott (Sonia), Mark (Nicole), Kelly (Sarah), Kristine, step grandchildren Chris and Kate (Johnathan), 9 great grandchildren, her brother, Ron Essex, and many nephews and nieces. In 1997 Tag and Moneta moved into Eagle Grove and Moneta has enjoyed her years there, making many wonderful friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and good nature. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her, including her friends at Squamish United Church. A celebration of her life will take place on May 25 at 11:00 at Squamish Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made by those who wish to do so to the Parkinson’s Society of BC or a charity of their choice.
