Mait passed peacefully at home into the presence of Jesus, his Lord and Saviour, on Thursday July 21, 2022.

He was a beloved husband, father, Papa and uncle. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 53 years Mary, his daughter Dianna (Clay), his daughter-in-law Theresa (Fernando), his grandchildren Brittany (Cody), Sarah (Ryan), Taylor, (Frankie), Nolan, Stanley, Anthony and Tesla. He had 7 great grandchildren Kane, Chantel, Catori, Tiara, Markus, Alora and Brandon. His brother Phillip (Esther), mother -in-law May, sister-in-law Connie (Bruce) and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, extended family, church family and good friends. He was predeceased by his son Bob.

Mait was born in Victoria, BC to Conrad and Randi Carey. He spent part of his childhood living near lighthouses at Cape St. James and on Langra island in the Queen Charlottes. Mait lived with his grandparents Louis and Ethelynne Carey in Victoria so he could go to school. Mait was an avid bowler and horseshoe player.

Mait met Mary through mutual friends in February of 1966 and dated until they married on September 26, 1969 in the Elk Lake Baptist Church. They lived in Victoria and Mait worked for Ocean Express. Their son Bob was born in October 1971. The family spent lots of time camping and fishing and in December of 1974 they made their move to Brackendale to build a home and enjoy the great outdoors. They started work on their home on Judd Road in the spring of 1975. Their daughter Dianna arrived in April 1975. With help of Mary's Mum and step dad, Ron they built and moved into the house September 1975.

Mait was a hard worker. He loved working with his hands and built 2 of their 3 homes in Brackendale. He also did countless carpentry jobs for others. he worked for Garibaldi Building Supplies and Squamish Valley Golf Course for many years.

His hobbies included singing, fishing, walking, volunteering in the community.

Mait will be remembered for his quick humour, his love of entertaining and his deep love for his family.

He lived a full and happy life and was happiest when serving and helping others. His confidence came from knowing his sins were forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ, that he will be raised to new life with him.

The Carey family gratefully express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Van Aardt, Dr. Bull all the Health Care workers and friends who supported him in his journey.

Funeral Services for Mait will be held at Squamish Baptist church on September 10, 2022 at 1:30 p.m.
