Obituary for Leona Henrietta Ingraham (Uhrich)

Ingraham, Leona Henrietta

March 18, 1918 - April 12, 2020

Mother was a prairie girl who at a young age traveled with her mother from Transcona, Manitoba to Squamish several times to visit her sister Mary Stathers.

While visiting Squamish she met Lloyd Ingraham and soon after they were married on March 28, 1939. and then began their family. Besides home and family, Leona worked with Lloyd in the Electric Contracting business and later on in the introduction of Cable-vision to Squamish.

In addition, she also made time to pursue her artistic interests, drawing, water colours, oil painting, weaving, knitting. As well as countless hours devoted to volunteer work with over 5 decades with the Squamish Hospital Ladies Auxiliary where she would knit dozens of pairs of bed socks for the hospital gift shop. She also volunteered for over 3 decades at the Squamish Public Library and was involved with Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, Eagle Grove Housing Co-Op, Tantalus Seniors Centre and also the Squamish Valley Golf Course.

Predeceased by her husband Lloyd , her loving husband of 79 years. She is survived by her loving children; her son, Ron (Irene), daughter Arlene, and son, Carl (Anna). Grandchildren, Elaine (Waheed), Lee (Eugenia), Jennifer, Kevin, Rina and great grandchildren, Zara and Jade.

Private Graveside Service was held at Mount Garibaldi Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, a public service will take place at a future date.
