Obituary for John Hugh Kelly Jr.
John Hugh Kelly Jr, 74, of Darcy BC, died June 22nd 2021, at Lionsgate Hospital
He was born on October 17th 1946, to Patricia Marjorie (Smith) and Major John Hugh Kelly Sr
John graduated from Richmond Senior High School and attended BCIT to complete his education as a heavy duty Machinist. In his later years he also went back to school to complete his Millwright certification
He married Valerie Gale (Hutchison) on May 5th, 1971 and they had three children, Deborah Susan, Jennifer Elizabeth and Douglas Allen Kelly.
After John's apprenticeship at Nielsen's machinery shop, he started with BC sugar and worked there until he retired
John was an avid Hunter and fisherman. He loved to Explorer the wilderness with his family, and show his children many survival techniques. John also had a knack for tying flies, which in turn ,caught him him many rainbow trout, when they were at the Bonanza Resort in 100 Mile House.
John is survived by his wife of 50 years Valerie, his daughter Deborah and his son Douglas.
Unfortunately he was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer.
John Kelly was a very intelligent man, who Loved animals, especially his little orange cat OJ.
He appreciated the outdoors, the mountains and the crisp clean air, and taught that to all of his children as well.
Those who knew him well, knew that John was a bit of a prankster. He loved his family very much. Also, he was an exceptionally proud grandfather, to his grandchildren, Ella and Jaxon.
