Obituary for Frankie Ferguson (Thompson)
Francis Eileen Ferguson (nee Thompson) November 13, 1939 - April 14, 2020
“Frankie”, as she was affectionately called by everyone who knew her was born in Invermere BC. She resided in Edgewater for several years with her parents and her sister Carol. It was in Edgewater that Frankie met and married Lewis Robert Ferguson. Lewis and Frankie moved to Britannia Beach and in 1968, they became parents to their pride and joy Frank Ryan Ferguson. In 1975, the trio moved to Brackendale and resided on Eagle Run. Frankie was employed at B.C. Rail as a First Aid Attendant, a career she loved and held until her retirement in 1997.
Frankie treasured making memories and family connections were a major priority for her. She was a very active member of the Squamish community, and could be found at a variety of local events and loved volunteering. Annual Remembrance Day tributes, 2010 Olympics, 2010 Paralympics, and the Railway Heritage Park are just a few.
She met and made friends everywhere she went and she was most often wearing one of her wonderful hats. Whether she was at TOPS, Musical Theatre, the Legion, curling or preserving cherished moments through her Creative Memories scrapbooking events, she had a very unique gift of making everyone feel so special and she was able to do this by sharing and spreading her love for the simple things in life. She loved hockey, music (especially Country) gardening, hummingbirds, Olaf ( from Frozen) trips up the Sea to Sky Gondola, caesars, and scrabble, crossword puzzles, reading and knitting.
Frankie faced many battles in her life ,she was a warrior against Cancer several times over and handled it all with such courage. Everyone who knew and loved her, also admired her for her constant strength and bravery.
On April 14, she grew her wings and left her earthly home to be reunited with the love of her life Lewis, her sister Carol, her parents and countless other beloved family members. The family wishes to express a heartfelt Thank you and deep gratitude to Dr. Jim Cranston as she endured many health challenges and he was so much more than a Doctor to her, he was a kind and caring friend. We also want to acknowledge and Thank the staff at the Squamish Hospice Society for their exceptional care of Frankie particularly in her finals days.
She is survived, celebrated, and dearly missed by her loving son Ryan, grandsons Blayne and Riley, great grand daughter Danyella as well as treasured family members and countless friends. To know her was to love her and to be loved by her was a gift to be cherished. She was deeply loved and will be missed beyond comprehension.
Her motto was to laugh often, love much, leave the world a little bit better, make memories, and cherish time with loved ones and that’s what we will do - until we meet again.
