Obituary for Eduard Friederich Fischer
EDUARD Friederich FISCHER, March 28, 1923 - October 13, 2020
On October 13, 2020, Eduard Friederich Fischer, most recently of Squamish BC and formerly of West Vancouver, BC, passed away peacefully at Squamish General Hospital at the age of 97 years. An active senior, Ed was still driving his car 3 days before.
A native of Vienna, Austria, Eduard brought his family to Canada in 1953, where they settled in North Vancouver. A mechanical engineer, he built up a successful manufacturing business that took him and his wife all over the world on business trips. He also had a passion for glider piloting and skiing, which he kept up into his eighties. He began flying gliders in Austria at age 11 and was the youngest licensed pilot in that country at 14.
Eduard will be sadly missed by his wife of 72 years, Erna Maria (nee Lacina), sons Eduard Franz (Helen) and Allen Norman (Carol); and granddaughters Maxine Devi, Shaela Elise, and Jennifer Star.
Erna and Ed grew up together as neighbours in Vienna and had known each other for over 90 years.
