Obituary for Danilo Munar Masangkay

On December 30th 2022, Danilo Munar Masangkay Senior peacefully passed away surrounded by his family in Vancouver General Hospital. Danilo is survived by his wife of 44 years Julie Masangkay and their children Dennis, Daniel, Danilo, Jasmin, Joan and his honorary son Edward. His siblings, Norma and Myrna Masangkay and his many close friends.

Danilo was known as a generous, kind, and reserved soul. He worked extremely hard throughout his life to provide for himself and his family. He graduated in Nautical Sciences and immigrated to Canada in 1988 and raised his family in Squamish. Danilo enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as singing, swimming, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. As so many can attest to, Danilo was always one to offer words of advice, share stories, jokes and always made time to help and empower others. He led a life by example that one can make a meaningful impact by creating community, elevating others and following your pursuits and dreams.

His legacy will carry on in all the lives that he touched and made better just by having known him. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and dearest friends.

To honour Danilo’s memory, we are holding a celebration of life at Saint Joseph’s Church of Squamish at 11:00 am. We invite anyone who knew him to attend, share stories and remember his wonderful life.

We are sincerely grateful to the many friends and relatives who have given us support and comfort during this time of loss.
