With sad hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend, Cherie Key (nee Crowston).
Cherie was born March 5, 1950, in Vancouver BC and passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023, in Prince George BC.
Cherie is lovingly remembered by her husband Gordon, her children Lisa (Scott), Lori, William and her stepdaughters Sheryl (Darren) and Shelley. She will be missed by her 10 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
One of 9 children, Cherie is also lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings, brother Roy (Judy) and sisters Florence, Louise (Dave) and Darlene as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.
Cherie lived most of her life in Squamish where she worked for Canada Post. After retiring, she and Gordon moved to Westbank and lived there until July 2022 when they moved to Prince George. Cherie loved spending her summers working in the garden and always had the most beautiful poppies and peonies. She enjoyed baking, sewing, reading, doing word searches, playing cards and board games. In the winters, she and Gordon loved their time spent in Yuma Arizona and looked forward to going back year after year.
Cherie loved animals and had numerous chihuahuas throughout her life. They brought her so much joy and she spoiled them like you wouldn’t believe! Cherie was a wonderful woman, always caring, loving, and giving. Family and friends were very important to her. She spent many hours picking out the perfect Christmas and birthday cards that she sent to everyone of her family and extended family over the years.
A life well lived, and well loved. She will be missed but lives on in the best parts of our hearts.
A celebration of Cherie’s life will be held on Saturday June 10, 2023, at 1pm at the Squamish Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, if able, a memorial contribution towards your local SPCA would be appreciated.
Reception to follow at Squamish Funeral Chapel
