Obituary for Beverley Louise Rourke (Roberts)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Beverly Louise Rourke (nee Roberts), age 79. Bev (aka Nanny) passed away peacefully at the Squamish hospice surrounded by loved ones early morning on Saturday, January 30th 2021.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years (Bruce); 3 children (Tammy (Ray), Diana, and Rob); 4 grandchildren (Holly (Ryan), Jake, Jenna, and Jesse); her older sister (Barbara); and all her extended family and friends both near and far.

Born in Valleyfield, Quebec, she emigrated out west to Squamish in 1973 with Bruce and their 3 young children. Although a piece of her heart would always remain firmly rooted in her beloved Quebec, she did eventually find a new home in Squamish. She enjoyed many years working at the North Vancouver Outdoor School doing what she loved: cooking and baking. In retirement, she kept busy by knitting, swimming, biking, attending Sunday services, and enjoying social coffees with the Tim Horton’s group.

Bev’s family are incredibly grateful to the hardworking nurses and doctors for their compassionate care during her time at Squamish General Hospital and hospice.

Due to current health restrictions, no service is planned at this time. In the meantime, Bev’s family would love for you to share your memories and messages through either www.squamishfuneralchapel.com or www.bevrourke.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the local food bank or a favourite charity of your choosing in Bev’s name.
