Obituary for Ava Grace Gnanaprakasam

Ava Grace Gnanaprakasam • 2017 - 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our best big girl and big sister, Ava Grace, following the tragic accident that took her life on Friday, February 28th in Squamish, BC.

Ava’s short life was filled with love and an incredible spirit—always seeking the next adventure, inquisitive about the world, but filled with gentle and sweet love for all those around her. Growing up she was physically strong, loving her bike, swimming, climbing and gymnastics! Spending time with friends, doing puzzles, water colours as well as going on hikes, jumping in muddy puddles and loving the beach were just few of her favourite things. Always cautious at start, but then there was no stopping her! She loved fully, unconditionally and with a genuine big heart.

Ava was born here in Squamish on June 14, 2017 and is survived by her younger sister Della, mother Ivana and father Jason. Grandpa Gnanaprakasam, Grandma Elisheba, Grandpa Milos and Auntie Janka and Adam. Auntie Annie and Uncle Kranthi, Auntie Susan, as well as her first cousins Aliana and Ella. Not to forget Ava’s best friends Levi and Jasper.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at Squamish Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 6th, 2020 beginning at 12:00 Noon. A private Internment will follow at Mount Garibaldi Cemetery after the service.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all of the first responders from Paramedics and Police, to Victim Services, Doctors and Nurses at Squamish Emergency and Hospital. Their hearts go out to all of them as well. They would also like to thank, from the bottom of their hearts, the community of Squamish, for the outpouring of affection, love, prayers and support, their church family at The Rock Church, as well as the generous GoFundMe donations to support them at this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Squamish Hospital Foundation BN: 892297888RR0001 would be appreciated. Ava’s life came full circle at the Squamish Hospital from her birth to passing. We would like to acknowledge the importance of this facility to our family and our community and to help support their growth and ability to serve all of us.

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
