It is with great sadness that the Wittman Family announces the passing of Arthur (Art) Wilfred Wittman. Art, the youngest of 8 siblings, was born on the family farm in Rockglen, Saskatchewan. At the age of nine and the untimely passing of his father Edward, his ‘Ma’, Victoria Wittman, moved the family to Winnipeg, Manitoba to fi nd work and to raised her family.

He met the love of his life, Doreen Rudolf, in Winnipeg. They were married on June 11, 1955. All four of their children were born in Winnipeg between 1956 - 1960. In 1966 they pulled up stakes, leaving their extended family behind to fi nd work in Squamish. Prior to leaving Winnipeg, Art operated his own automotive service station, ‘Arts Esso’. After arriving in Squamish, Art found work at the Woodfi bre Pulp and Paper mill and eventually became the Supply Stores Supervisor until leaving Woodfi bre in 1981. He later opened Chieftain Maintenance and Security and serviced commercial properties until his retirement in 2002. Art was an exceptional hockey player and could be found on the ice playing pick up games or as part of the old timers hockey league. He was also an animal lover and for many years enjoyed riding his horse, Flicka. Art played guitar and sang and loved traditional country music. Art and Doreen loved to travel including a very special trip through Europe to retrace their family origins.
