Arnold died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a short and courageous battle with a serious illness. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend and colleague.

Arnold was a dedicated Waldorf teacher who also worked tirelessly at achieving that Waldorf schools stand as equal partner within the independent school movement. He worked with the Federation for Independent Schools Association (FISA) for several years and was part of inspection teams of independent schools throughout British Columbia. Most recently, he was Director of Accreditation for the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA).

It was his wish that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following charities:

The Christian Community of Vancouver

The Nature Conservancy

The Squamish Hospice Society

Furthermore, Arnold's family would like to acknowledge and thank the Palliative Care team and the nurses and doctors in Pemberton and Squamish health centers for their dedication and loving care during these last months.

We were very saddened when we heard today about the early death of Arnold Grimm.
We remember many special moments with him as our son Tim's first class teacher.
A lot of strength for the family, especially now in Christmas time. Family Morhardt from Stuttgart

Dearest Ute & Family,
My Family & I send our sincerest, heartfelt condolences to you All !
Your and Arnold's friendship has been the spiritual support to inspire us, once again, to fire up our trust in Humanity. In your presence my soul can taste your devoted fruitfulness, like the fuel of honey. I and our Thor Family will miss Arnold very much but his Spirit will remain in reach.
In His wisdom the big Master-smith smelts and, by virtue of our repeated daily fire_labour_ice, tempers from our soul the spirit to His likeness. So, be assured Arnold's virtues are in good hands & deeply appreciated by us from top to bottom and sideways.
We feel truly blessed to have experienced Arnold's gracious friendship,
And send our warmest Love to you, Ute and your Families,
Bernhard & Mary Thor

Dearest Arnold,
This news has been so very hard to hear this week. So many memories and moments when you supported me as a parent and held Finn in the safest classroom environment he will ever know . The young man he is becoming is so deeply influenced by you. Strongly suggesting sweat pants should not be included in Finns school wear made our boy sit up and pay attention ... as you knew it would. Covering his petrified face in a beard for every school play allowed him to hide in plain site while on stage ... the one place where he didn’t perform and overact. As parents we had so much fun trying to outdo each other with our advent lunches , as a result you were feasting like a king every December ... I hope you enjoyed those lunches as much as we enjoyed producing them. I know how much my heart broke when you shared with us your decision to move on from VWS but we trusted you enough to respect your choice and the beautiful and dignified path you created to step back from our children’s lives . I can only imagine the loss Ute and your family must be feeling today with this latest path you have crossed . My heart aches for them and for you to have left them all so soon.
I know your impact on my Finn will be evident for the rest of his life and I will forever be grateful to you for your role.
Thank you for loving my son and his classmates as much as you did. Sending all our love and prayers . Julie , Dave and Finn McAdam xx

Dear Arnold,
There are so many memories of you that bring a smile to my face. We have had so many adventures together: fishing, camping, hiking, boating and riding on the back of your motorcycle, just to name a few.
You have taught me how to be still, inside and out, while sitting in a boat waiting for a fish to bite.
You taught me that order and firmness can be a way of loving.
You taught me that change can be a beautiful thing in life.
I will miss how you loved me for who I am, I felt seen by you.
I will miss your guidance and calm presence.
And most of all I will miss the way you teased me. 😊
Knowing you has changed my life.
Thank you for everything.
With deep love,
Clara Sophia
