Alida “Linda” Sadler was born on January 17th, 1947 in Rotterdam, Holland, to Alida and Arie Hoogenboom. At a young age her family immigrated to Canada and soon they made the move to Squamish which became her lifelong home. She grew up with her siblings Margo, Gerda , Arie, and Frank. In 1963 she met the love of her life Bill and they were married on September 12, 1964. They started a family and had 3 girls, Deborah, Carol, and Barbara. She devoted her life to her family and created a loving home for them and for all who knew her.
She always found time to be crafty, sewing, knitting, and a member of the bowling league. She loved her coffee afternoons playing backgammon and Yahtzee with her neighborhood friends. No matter what she would have special treats she baked for after-school snacks for her daughters and their friends who looked up to her as a mother figure.
She loved the outdoors camping, fishing, and sitting around a campfire with her family and friends which she did for many years, and her family has taken on that same love. She was a very strong swimmer and taught her daughters at a very young age to swim across Alice Lake by her side. She had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who she adored and loved spending time with.
Linda was very active in her early years including basketball, grass hockey, softball, volleyball and passed on that love of sport’s to her daughters. She enjoyed watching her girls and grandchildren play whatever kind of sports they took part in. She was their #1 fan and always there to support them. She endured many health issues over the years but no matter how much pain or discomfort she was in she was there for them. She especially loved being at the field watching her family play ball. She was more than a spectator she was considered a very big part of the Predators' slo-pitch family. She was known as “Gramma” to all.
She leaves behind her loving husband Bill of 56 years her daughters, Deb (Mike), Carol (Kym), Barb (John). Grandchildren Kristy, Courtney, Kaitlyn, Levi, and Brodi. Great-grandchildren Cameron, and Gavin, sister Inlaw Janet, along with her siblings, Margo, Arie, Frank (Teresa), many nieces and nephews, and friends.
